MMAX Joint Extruder short-listed for Industry Product of the Year 2012
LMS
Highways are proud to announce that we have been selected out of 'a high number
of entries' for this years Highways Excellence Awards for category
of Product of the Year.
The
award ultimately goes to the Organisation whose vision, belief and
determination has brought a product or service to the market that has initiated
a “change of thought” approach or technique.
The judges will look at how it impacts and influences the sustainability agenda and/or offer efficiency savings in our industry and have been developed and utilised in the highways industry within the last 3 years.
The judges will look at how it impacts and influences the sustainability agenda and/or offer efficiency savings in our industry and have been developed and utilised in the highways industry within the last 3 years.
The
MMAX has more than 1 year's demonstrable results meeting challenges and overcoming
obstacles; contributing to improvements in the industry and to the environment;
and retaining quality whilst improving value for money whilst working in
partnership. And of course we have done this by developing our
relationships with the Mac contractors working across the network - a client
base that continues to increase scheme by scheme.
LMS are
thrilled at being selected and appreciate this as a major achievement in
itself. Thank you once again to the selection committee who we now look
forward to meeting in person at the Award ceremony in October.

MMAX Joint Repair Extruder Film
Brought to the market by LMS Highways - A BBA HAPAS approved, extrusion based, lorry mounted, joint repair system designed to repair fretted joints in carriageways.
Going for Gold!
For obvious security reasons, all those working on the creation of the Olympic Village have been asked not to publish their "exact involvement" until after the games have finished. LMS Highways were involved some months ago now, but would still like to show their support for all the great sportsmen and sportswomen who dedicate hours of their lives to their sports and our Country in preparation for such an event. As true professionals we all aim for the ultimate outcome and feel frustration at anything less than achieving perfection.
LMS Highways wish them all the very best and thank them for their continued efforts, whichever medal they come away with.

Highways Magazine Excellence Awards 2012
LMS Highways have this year entered the MMAX Joint Extruder into the award for Highways Industry Product of the Year. We are tremendously proud to find ourselves in a position to be compared to others whose vision, belief and determination brings new products or services to the market, in collaboration with the industry in which we will serve. With more than 1 year's demonstratable results, in-depth knowledge of the challenges met and obstacles overcome, and appreciating the impact and contribution that can be made, we are excited to hear the outcome. To be nominated will be sufficient recognition for our consideration to improvements in health and safety, environmental aspects and value in both time and money. To actually win, would make our year!
Thank you to all those involved in organising this event, the presentations and the gala dinner and of course to Shell Bitumen for Sponsoring our category. Good luck MMAX and all who serves with you!

Putting the green back into park
A brand new 40,000 ft2 GREEN headquarters has been built on the new Project Oxygen site, Exeter Business Park for ATASS (Statistical Research and Investment). Showcasing latest sustainable building techniques including rain water harvesting (something this summer has offered in bucket loads!) the 3-story concrete frame sits in its soft landscaped surroundings, with recreational facilities to promote staff health and fitness whilst being mindful of their nearby neighbours. LMS Highways were asked to assist with the anti-skid works on the site which completed the car park marking requirements, at the request of our regular customer Devon Tarmasters. The crew involved said that they believed their own health definitely improved on this job, as the weather was a hot and so was the work!

Innovation Showcased and Best Practice Explored at our Discovery Day 2012
On May 15th LMS Highways did what it said on the tin! With speakers including Stirling Lloyd and the Road Service Treatment Association (RSTA), Paul Winter unravelled the successes in the journey so far, and revealed what the future will look like at LMS Highways. Feedback tells us "a very informative event". The MMAX 'real-time' demonstration of machine laid joint repair (with the landlord gratefully appreciating the degrading longitudinal crack being filled for free!) surprised some as to it's apparent "simplicity" but in all "makes total sense". From driver to operative head-sets easing communication challenges, to the one-pass-system completed and dry within minutes (as next doors delivery van proved, driving over it quicker than we could remove the safety conned barrier!). Our thanks go to everyone involved.
If you were one of those unable to join us, our VIDEO of MMAX is now AVAILABLE. You can view it via our website or if you would like to receive a copy on disc, please call Debbie on 01626 331771. Call also if you want to hear more about our UK Road Show which is travelling the network later this year. If you have a trial area of 200-500 metres we would be pleased to discuss logistics of holding your 'own' demo day!
It's take a lot of hard work to organise events like these ("harder than the day job" one lad was heard to say) but 10 times worth the time and investment we made. We look forward to the next one!

'Your M&S' ... our line marking
LMS Highways completed yet another car park and warehouse marking for Marks & Spencers; the company with a corporate vision of providing high quality and outstanding value. To achieve our customers satisfaction we kept a keen eye on the (Asda) "price"; "tried something new" (Sainsburys) in achieving their unusual warehousing marking, and gave them "more reasons to shop" (Morrisons) with us again by working within their tight H&S constraints. So when your next parking in a space, stopped in the drop-off, appreciating the location of a disabled bay, or waiting for a delivery vehicle reversing to unload, chances are we've had something to do with it in Devon and Somerset. As (Tescos say) "every little helps"!

Lining the Lion Enclosure!!
Longleat Safari Park requested LMS Highways to white line their lion enclosure this month. 4 miles of centre line later, it turned out to be a few interesting days out for the lads. The lions didn’t get to watch, but the wolves did, needless to say the lads got to hop it quickly into the truck on occasion. A big thank you to the rangers for looking after our staff!
Joint Repair on the A9
MMax achieved another 3km of Joint Repair on the A9 in adverse conditions. This is MMAX’s first winter and despite initial teething problems with the cold weather, the work was successfully carried out. Commendation is due to the dedication of our fantastic Joint Repair crews working under difficult conditions. MMax is now gearing up in anticipation of a very busy spring 2012.
